Youth Ministry at GLCC
by Jamie Brandon
I believe that all of us come into the world with a “God-shaped void” within us. We try to fill this emptiness with many things: popularity, money, excitement, relationships, stimulants, etc. I believe that each of us is trying to meet the needs that God placed within us—the need to be loved, accepted, secure, adequate—the need to define our identity. I believe that nothing completely fills this need except for God. The things we do to try to fill this emptiness eventually fall short—nothing satisfies except God!
It is my desire to emphasize this with our teens while they are here with us at GLCC. I want to provide opportunities for our youth to see that they need a Savior; that apart from Him our emptiness is never filled. It is also my desire that those teens who have accepted Christ begin to understand the depth of what it is they received; that not only will they spend eternity with Christ in heaven, but that they can experience His presence right now—moment by moment; that they are new creations in Christ.
It is my desire for our teens to realize that for a believer in Christ, sinful behavior is contrary to this new identity; that when they sin, they are acting in a way that is the opposite of who they really are! I want to reach the lost and disciple the found!
I want to provide opportunities for teens to connect here at GLCC—through music, drama, Bible study, fellowship, art, physical fitness, fun, worship, service projects—and for God’s truth to be echoing in their ears in the midst of all these things.
Something exciting is happening here at GLCC. Are you a part of it?
